1. Introduction

At Abajaba, we respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This policy explains what we collect when you visit abajaba.com, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It applies to this website only.

2. Data We Collect

We collect the minimum needed to run the site and understand which articles are worth writing. We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not collect your name, email address or payment details anywhere on this site.

• Usage data: which article or page was opened, how far down it was read, and whether a card deck was opened. These are recorded as counts against the article, not against you.
• Technical data: IP address, browser type and device information, handled by our hosting provider as part of serving and securing the site.
• Referrer: the website that linked you here. We store the site's domain only, never the full address you came from.

Our own analytics records carry no name, account, cookie ID or device identifier, so the readings in them cannot be traced back to an individual. To stop automated abuse we briefly hold a one-way hash of an IP address combined with the current minute; it expires within minutes and cannot be reversed into an IP address.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use it to keep the site available and secure, to understand which subjects readers find useful, and to decide what to cover next. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with third parties except as described in the advertising and service-provider sections below.

4. Cookies and Local Storage

We use your browser's local storage to remember your own preferences, such as dark mode and the signal filter you last chose. That information stays in your browser, is never sent to us, and you can clear it at any time through your browser settings.

Third parties, including advertising and hosting providers, may set cookies of their own. Those are covered in the next two sections.

5. Advertising

We use Google AdSense to display advertisements on this site. This means:

• Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet.
• Third-party vendors and ad networks may also serve ads on this site and may use their own cookies, web beacons or similar technologies to measure the effectiveness of their advertisements and to personalise the ads you see.
• These third parties may collect information such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view on this site, and the time and date of those visits. We do not control and cannot access the information they collect.

You can opt out of personalised advertising by Google at Google Ads Settings, and out of third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info or the Network Advertising Initiative. Google's own practices are described in its policy on how it uses information from sites that use its services. Opting out stops ads being personalised; it does not stop ads being shown.

6. Service Providers

The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes requests to serve pages, protect against attacks and record aggregate traffic figures. Cloudflare may set cookies necessary for security and performance. Our analytics store runs on Cloudflare infrastructure and is operated by us, not shared with any analytics vendor.

7. Children

This site is intended for adults making their own decisions about financial information. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

8. Your Choices

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, opt out of personalised advertising through the links in section 5, and clear the preferences we store locally at any time. Blocking cookies will not prevent you from reading anything on this site.

9. Changes to This Policy

We will update this page when our practices change, and will revise the date shown at the top when we do.
